About Us
Players & Membership
The club has a wide range of players of all different ages, nationalities and abilities. In order to join the club, players must become members of Sportsco. Individual membership costs €230 a year, or €310 for a family (prices correct as of June 2011). Membership of the table tennis club is €160 a year, or €200 if you want to play as part of a league team.
Events & Competitions
The club take’s part in the Leinster Table Tennis League, as well as ITTA organised ranking events. Some of members also travel abroad for training camps and international events. Facilities & Equipment
The club play in the main sports hall in Sportsco which has very good lighting and flooring and is the equivalent in size to 3 badminton courts. The club has 10 tables. For competitive matches, the sports hall can include 6-8 tables comfortably. For events such as Leinster Premier League matches, normally only 3-4 tables are used at once. The club also has a training robot which is used for practicing on.
Although the hall is not big enough to host major competitions, it is a popular venue for events that only require a small number of tables, due to it’s central location and good playing conditions. The sports hall also has a viewing balcony that provides a great view of all the tables.
Sportsco
Sportsco is the popular name of the ESB Sports Association. The Association operates a Sports and Leisure Centre for members at a centrally located 4-acre site at South Lotts Road, Dublin 4, next door to Shelbourne Park Greyhound. Facilities include a swimming pool, tennis courts, 5-a-side soccer pitches as well as a state of the art gym. For more information, visit the official website, www.sportsco.ie.
